After I whittled down my magazines into what inspired me, I categorised the articles into themes. There was some overlap but at the time I felt the groupings made sense. Now, I have written this blog post beginning with the body of text, rather than the title which I have never done before. I just wasn’t sure how to introduce this collection of cuttings.
In the June 2016 edition of Cosmopolitan there was a full feature on hair, or more specifically, “hairitage”. To my delight it focused on mixed-heritage hair which for the most part was curly. I could identify with the piece and also find it useful for product recommendations that I could use on my hair.
I created this look because I wanted to wear certain products and although I wasn’t sure it would turn out ok, I tried them all at the same time anyway!
I really wanted to wear my Makeup Revolution Awesome Metals Foil Finish eyeshadow in Magnificent Copper, my Givenchy Color Kajal in shade number 3 (limited edition violet) and my Bourjois Rouge Edition Velvet lip colour in 06 Pink Pong. It was a child-like way to approach make-up, just picking out the colours I liked and sticking them on my face but I really like the result. I think I look like a spring garden full of flowers!
The base is Bobbi Brown Illuminating Finish Compact Foundation in Golden which is no longer available, applied with a sponge. I applied the Magnificent Copper eyeshadow to my eyelids using my Models Own angled brush, lined my lower lash line with the Givenchy Color Kajal, put one coat of Too Faced Better Than Sex mascara on my upper lashes and finished the eye area by defining my brows with L’Oreal Brow Artist Shaper in 04 Dark Brunette. I swept a little Seventeen Instant Glow Shimmer Brick in Golden Bronze on to my cheeks using my Real Techniques multi-task brush and finished with the Bourjois Rouge Edition Velvet lip colour in Pink Pong.
What’s the point of make-up if you can’t have fun?
