This post is to help you decide between the Bobbi Brown Hydrating Face Cream or Bobbi Brown Extra Repair Moisture Cream.
My skin is dry and my nose can get oily.
The Hydrating Face Cream has a very light, fresh scent and feels surprisingly light for a cream. It performs like a richer, thicker cream but it is quickly and easily absorbed. I find it works better with the Extra Treatment Lotion to really hold in moisture. My skin is left feeling soft and supple when I use it and I can’t stop touching my face! As claimed on the Bobbi Brown website, it gives me a “plumped up, cushiony look”.
The Hydrating Face Cream is not greasy, oily or heavy at all. In fact, when I’m in a rush, I also sweep this over my eyes – it’s actually lighter than the Bobbi Brown Extra Repair Eye Cream which I love and a touch heavier than the Bobbi Brown Hydrating Eye Cream.
The Extra Repair Moisture Cream is better for protection because it is slightly heavier feeling than the Hydrating Face Cream although it is also quickly and easily absorbed. The scent can be off-putting as it is fairly strong. It smells like herbs so I think it is rosemary!
The Extra Repair Moisture Cream reminds me of the Bobbi Brown Extra Repair Illuminating Moisture Balm but it leaves less of a sheen and the scent is not as strong as the balm. It is supposed to be a lighter version of the Extra Repair Moisturising Balm but I have not tried that one. It leaves a dewy finish giving me a natural glow on the cheeks. Best of all, it lasts all day. I would say it feels like the Bobbi Brown Extra Treatment Lotion and Hydrating Face Cream combined.
I like to feel that my skin is protected in winter so that might make me choose the Extra Repair Moisture Cream however it is more expensive than the Hydrating Face Cream. The Extra Repair Moisture Cream would make a good year-round night cream also. Aside from the price, the other downside is the scent. It is strong and I was unable to tolerate it whilst I was pregnant so bear that in mind if you have a sensitive sense of smell.
The Hydrating Face Cream costs less but for my dry skin I feel it would be better for summer which is when I prefer several light layers of skincare, especially if my sun protection is heavy. I also need to use more of it compared to the Extra Repair Moisture Cream. Having said that, I love using the Extra Treatment Lotion and they layer well so that gives me the hydration I need all year. It also goes well with other tonics I have used and the Extra Repair Illuminating Moisture Balm.
It’s difficult for me to choose between the two for my dry skin because they both give me the results I want but I think the Extra Repair Moisture Cream just about wins!
