Palmer’s Coconut Oil Formula Shampoo and Conditioner

Whenever I buy shampoo and conditioner I have to be careful that they do not irritate my sensitive scalp. My scalp turned me into a shampoo snob, making me believe that only expensive shampoos (£20 upwards) would be any good. Generally, if the shampoo and conditioner are good for my scalp, they don’t do much for my hair of if they are great for my hair, my scalp hates them!

I received the Palmer’s Coconut Oil Formula Coconut Oil Conditioning Shampoo and Repairing Conditioner as a PR samples. They contain none of the following: sulphates, phthalates, gluten, parabens, mineral oils or dyes. The pair is aimed at dry, damaged or colour treated hair. I have fine and dry hair. Although the main labels focus on coconut oil, they also contains monoi oil.

A small amount of the shampoo creates a good lather and I usually did two shampoos. It is creamy as claimed and has a strong synthetic coconut smell which reminds me of a Bounty bar (yum!). This is probably because in addition to the coconut fruit extract and the coconut oil, there is also added fragrance.

The conditioner is pretty, it is pearlescent! It works best when you leave it for the 3-5 minutes before rinsing, as stated in the directions. I preferred to put a shower cap on while I was waiting for it to work, to get the maximum benefit. It left my hair feeling smooth and smelling great as has the same coconut fruit extract coconut oil, and added coconut fragrance which stayed even after my hair was dry which was nice.

I loved how the pair made my hair feel an initially I thought my scalp was ok but after a few weeks it started to itch! Unfortunately I therefore cannot continue to use the Palmer’s Coconut Oil Formula Coconut Oil Conditioning Shampoo and Repairing Conditioner which is a shame because I enjoyed using them both. The Shampoo and Conditioner are £4.19 each from Superdrug.
