I bought Black|Up Two Way Cake because I was looking for a powder to set my Benefit cream concealer and Bobbi Brown cream foundation sticks. The Bobbi Brown powder I bought with the foundations was too pale for my summer skin.
I went to the Black|Up counter in Debenhams as I had tried some products and learned about the brand at Keziah Connections and liked it. Plus the products are aimed at women with my complexion so it only made sense to try a base product from Black|Up.
The sales assistant pulled out shade TW01 but I couldn’t believe I was at the 01 end of the shade scale. I thought I would be in the middle as with other brands I tend to be at the darkest end (yes I know that’s ridiculous, but true). I tried a darker shade and it was too dark. I did the natural light test and the lighter shade was the one.
The compact comes with a mirror and a sponge which I use when I’m out and about but when I’m first applying my makeup, or there is enough space in my bag , I use brushes to apply it. I like to use the Two Way Cake to set my under-eye cream concealer using my Real Techniques setting brush and to combat oiliness on my T-zone using my Real Techniques duo finer face brush.
I find it the coverage too light to be a foundation on its own and I haven’t tried it wet. It doesn’t matter to me though. The fine powder is perfect for setting my makeup without making it look caked on, even under my eyes. That’s what I wanted so I’m very happy!
