A few months ago I was delighted to receive samples of the Black|Up Perfect Matifying Primer and the Black|Up Matifying Fluid Primer in my Keziah Connections goodie bag. The primer is a Black|Up bestseller.

I have recently started wearing primer on a daily basis. I used to wear it only when I was going out to increase foundation wear time then I decided it was worth the extra step in my morning routine to apply it.

I have used the Perfect Matifying Primer applied with both my fingers and a flat foundation brush, with my Bobbi Brown cream stick foundation.   The primer creates a very smooth canvas ready for the cream foundation and makes my foundation last longer but it doesn’t mattify. Perhaps the oils from the foundation and from my own face are just too much for any primer!

Then I tried the primer, applied with a flat foundation brush, with the the Black|Up Matifying Fluid Foundation. Now, these were clearly meant to be together! The primer ensured that I only had to use a tiny amount of foundation as it produced a very smooth base for the liquid to glide on. The liquid is also lighter than cream. My foundation stayed put all day and I stayed matte.

I shouldn’t be surprised as products within a range and even a brand are designed to work together, a bit like shampoo and conditioner. It’s all down to science. For more thoughts on the foundation, click here.

Well, the bottom line this: the Black|Up Perfect Matifying Primer and Black|Up Matifying Fluid Foundation really do make the perfect pair!

(Edit: I’m not sure it is oil free but it feels like it.)
