When I first heard about strobing I was sceptical. I don’t have killer cheekbones so contouring made perfect sense to me and it gave me the results I wanted – a slimmer looking face. I just couldn’t see how strobing could help me sculpt my face in the same or even a similar way. Surely strobing was for people with the perfect bone structure to begin with?
Well…I tried strobing and I loved it!
Strobing is where you place high-shine or high-shimmer highlights on the points of your face where the light would hit. When the light is on your bone structure is illuminated and you glow!
For the highest impact, keep the whole make-up look natural. My key kit was:
- Makeup Revolution Salvation Palette Iconic Pro 1
- Sleek Contour Kit in Medium
- Bobbi Brown Blush in Desert Pink
- Models Own Powder Brush
- Models Own blending brush
- No7 Eyeshadow brush
- Real Techniques Duo Fiber Contour Brush
I think strobing is perfect for a daytime confidence boost. I’ll still turn to contouring for my evening looks or if I need my features to look more sculpted but I really do like this technique and I’m glad it has been brought to us non-MUAs.
The pictures are a little different as I’m trying to show you how the light catches highlights. Let me know what you think!
