This is the second part of my review of the Soap & Glory Crazy Sexy Kohl set I got in the December sales although I think you can still get the shades separately. The tin contained waterproof eyeliners and three eyeshadows. The shimmery taupe, the shimmery grape and shimmer black colours lend themselves towards a smoky eye so I gave it a go. The colours are Aubersheen, Smokin’ and Dandy Plum but apart from the plum, I don’t know which colour is which. I used three colours and five brushes, excluding the base and brows!
For the base I used Kiko Makeup Milano Infinity eyeshadow in 204, a matte sand colour applied with my e.l.f. studio eyeshadow “C” brush all over my lids up to my brows. I then used the same brush to cover the same area with the shimmery taupe colour as I think it makes a great shimmery base and a highlight on my skin tone. Then using my Real Techniques Duo Fiber Eye Brush, I applied the plum colour to the crease and the socket bone, gradually building up the colour and blending as I went along. I used MAC brush 293 (a rounded square edge) to apply a little of the shimmery black to the outer edge of the crease and lid. I lined the top lashline using the same colour and my Ruby & Millie angled eye brush. I then blended the black using my No7 Eyeshadow Blend and Contour Brush. I touched up the taupe colour on the lid and the plum colour in the inner crease.
I finished with Oriflame Wonderlash Mascara on the top and bottom lashes, Bobbi Brown eyeshadow in Mahogany for my brows using the angled liner on my Bella Pierre Dual brush and Clinique All About Eyes Concealer in Deep Honey 08.
I actually ended up with shimmer all over my face but I’m not sure if this is due to the eyeshadow or my (poor) technique! The colours need to be built up as they deposit a very subtle amount of colour. Great if you’re heavy handed like me! I think the plum is incredibly pretty and the colours together make a nice alternative to a grey or black smoky eye. You could even wear this in the daytime.
I looked on the Soap and Glory website to see if their Lid Stuff range had the colours I used. From the pictures, it looks like you can get the shimmery black in the Smokey Dokey palette and the plum in the Off The Wall Flowers Palette. As for the taupe, I can’t quite tell if it is in the Off The Wall Flowers Palette or What’s Nude. Do any of you know?
