In Episode 1 of The Face USA, Naomi Campbell wore the most amazing yellow and purple eyeshadow. I tried to recreate it here but it looks more pink-purple than purple! I’ll have to try again! I tried two effects, matte and shimmer.
To prepare, I applied Clinique All About Eyes concealer in Deep Honey applied with my Bobbi Brown cream blending brush and then blended into the skin using my finger. I then used Kiko Make Up Milano Eye Base Primer for longevity and for stronger colour which I applied with my fingers.
This look was achieved through gradual application and blending. I began with the bright yellow colour in my Sleek Bohemian eyeshadow palette and applied this to the lid only using my Ruby & Millie eyeshadow brush, then blended it a little using the same brush. I then applied the pink-purple colour from my Sleek Monaco eyeshadow palette from the crease almost up to the brown bone, and from the inner corner of my eye to the outer corner, using another Ruby & Millie eyeshadow brush. I blended the edges of the pink-purple using my MAC 239 brush so I could really control the colour. I then blended the yellow and the pink together using my No7 eyeshadow brush.
I then repeated all of the above to build the colour!
Naomi Campbell wore a thick line of black eyeliner so I decided to use my Maybelline Color Tattoo in Timeless Black to draw a thick winged shape on the upper lashline using my Ruby & Millie angled eye brush. Please ignore the smudge – this stuff really is long lasting, and quick drying!
I defined my eyebrows using my Bobbi Brown eyeshadow in Mahogany and the angled liner on my Bella Pierre dual brush. I finished with two coats of Maybelline the Falsies Volum’ Express Flared mascara in Very Black on the top lashes and one coat on the bottom.
Unfortunately the eyeshadow palettes are no longer available (along with the Ruby & Millie brushed) but your favourite matte yellow and matte pink-purple will be fine.
The same colours were in my L’Oreal Shocking Disco Smoking eyeshadow quad which I thought was matte but they are actually shimmer colours!
I used exactly the same method and tools above except:
I used the Kiko Make Up Milano Pearly Eye Base Primer which is designed to be used under shimmer eyeshadow to really make the colours pop.
For the eyeshadow I used the L’Oreal Shocking Disco Smoking eyeshadow quad in yellow, which is colour number 4, and the pink-purple which is colour number 3. The guide is on the back of the quad.
Which is your favourite?
